Wallace is a small town in the Northern Idaho panhandle. We are located on Interstate 90 approximately 14 miles from Montana and 61 miles from Washington. The last census had us at 960 people.
Wallace is the Silver Capital of the World and the “Center of the Universe”. Over one billion ounces of silver ore has been mined from this area known as the Silver Valley. Other minerals located here are lead, zinc and copper. Some of the local mines in operation are Lucky Friday, Galena, and Sunshine. The timber industry has always had a strong presence in our area.
Many businesses are now turning their focus toward tourism. We have two world class bicycle trails, two mine tours, two winter skiing resorts, and 5 local museums. Check out the “Wallace” web site for more complete information.
